Iced oat latte on the white tiled counter at Revista

Coffee · Magazines · Groningen

Read
slow,
drink slow.

Specialty coffee, independent print and nothing on the menu that isn’t plant-based.

The idea

revista = magazine

Revista is Spanish for magazine. That’s the whole idea: a room built for reading, with very good coffee in it. No wifi passwords shouted over the grinder. No rush.

Hand-painted menu boards above the espresso machine

Coffee philosophy

Written by hand, brewed by hand.

Our menus are painted with a marker because we change them often — new roasters, new origins, new ideas. What stays the same: light roasts, careful brewing, and oat or pea milk in everything.

The shelf

Print you can’t scroll past.

A rotating shelf of independent magazines — design, photography, food, architecture. Read them here with your coffee, or take one home. We restock when something good comes out, not on a schedule.

Kitchen

Plant-based, not an afterthought.

Everything we bake and pour is plant-based — banana bread, blueberry almond slices, chocolate chip cookies the size of your saucer. Not a vegan corner of the menu. The menu.

Coffee

Light roasts,
heavy opinions.

We pour rotating beans from Dutch roasters like Friedhats and Uncommon — light roasts where you taste plum, cherry, lemongrass instead of char. The board behind the bar tells you what’s in the grinder today, written by hand.

oat milk by Roa, Amsterdam — in everything

01 — Batch brew

The everyday cup. A rotating single origin, brewed in volume so it’s ready when you are. Ask what’s on — it changes weekly.

02 — Pour over

The slow cup. Brewed to order for the beans that deserve the attention. Good with a magazine and no plans.

03 — Espresso

Pulled on the La Marzocco. The oat flat white and cappuccino are what most people come back for.

The retail shelf

Take the beans home — we’re currently the only place in Groningen stocking retail bags from Friedhats and Uncommon, next to a small selection of brewing tools.

About

It started
as a bus.

Revista began as a little blue coffee truck by the canal — specialty brews and a stack of magazines, served through a hatch. People kept coming back. Then they kept asking where to sit.

So Emma and Wouter gave it a room: a minimalist corner bar on the Carolieweg, just behind the Grote Markt. White tiles, tall windows, a long table, and a shelf of print worth your attention.

The kitchen is 100% plant-based, because that’s how we like it. The menus are hand-painted, because printed ones would mean changing things less often.
